Non segue una linea guida precisa: serve a fissare appunti che credo possano essere utili anche ad altri collezionisti. Per correzioni o integrazioni trovate i miei contatti in fondo alla pagina. In this section I collected some useful information about the British, Canadians, South Africans, and New Zealanders. Given the difficulty of finding complete sources, I decided to condense them here. There is no strict guideline: it serves mainly as notes, which I believe can also be useful to other collectors. Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale ogni reggimento e corpo dell'esercito britannico disponeva di un proprio blocco numerico per assegnare i Personal Number (o Regimental Number per i canadesi).

Non era raro che un soldato mantenesse una matricola precedente o che, trasferito in un altro reparto, conservasse un numero appartenente a un diverso blocco. During the Second World War each regiment and corps of the British Army had its own block of numbers for assigning Personal Numbers (or Regimental Numbers for Canadians).

It was not unusual for a soldier to retain an earlier service number or, after being transferred to another unit, to keep a number belonging to a different block.

Per facilitare l'identificazione del materiale e dell'equipaggiamento, gli Alleati usarono un codice standard a barre colorate. Ogni contenitore riportava un numero a cinque cifre: le ultime due venivano rappresentate da tre barre orizzontali (sopra e sotto le decine, al centro le unità). To simplify the identification of personal and unit equipment, the Allies adopted a standard system of colored bar codes. Each container had a five-digit number: the last two digits were represented by three horizontal bars (top and bottom for tens, middle for units).

Gli indumenti e materiali dell'esercito britannico erano controllati dagli uffici qualità che applicavano il timbro WD (War Department). Il marchio presentava le lettere WD separate dalla "broad arrow", un numero identificativo e una lettera per l'anno. British Army clothing and equipment were inspected by quality control offices that applied the WD (War Department) stamp. The mark showed the letters WD separated by the "broad arrow", an inspector's number, and a letter for the year.
